    Newsletter – April 2015

    Dear Friends,

    All rewards are Spiritual

Last month my message dealt with spiritual wholeness: this month the focus is on an aspect of that spiritual wholeness, “spiritual prosperity.” Generally, as individuals, it seems we are part of a very needy society – we need to be accepted; we need to be respected; we need to be rewarded; in other words, we need more! And it could be said, once again generalizing, that an individual mantra could be: “I have a need!”

Perhaps it is through this very neediness that all around us systems in the world seem to be unraveling and when we get to the bottom line it would appear that it all has to do with money, or the apparent lack of it. Because the media dazzles us with so many things to be needed, and that we should have, we can have a difficult time not buying into “needing more.”

In dealing with the topic of spiritual wholeness the suggestion was that we surrender to what is – the Truth that is – and trust that. And yes, we do have a need – a need to KNOW TRUTH. In knowing Truth, we will be spiritually prosperous. We do not have to go searching all over the world for Truth, for the “I AM” of each one of us is Truth!

Now, on the topic of Spiritual Prosperity, we are going to look at treasures in consciousness as opposed to what we may often think of as necessary treasures in the world. There is also the mistaken idea that our experiences in the world out-picture our consciousness. So we may be judged, and our consciousness questioned, when it comes to the status of our health, the home we live in, or our financial situation.

Spiritual consciousness cannot be measured with a yardstick of the world. Jesus, through his connection to Truth was able to impart to all: “My kingdom is not of this world.” And the kingdom referred to, is the kingdom in consciousness to which all have access.

Paul Ferrini states it clearly in these words, entitled: “All Rewards are Spiritual”
“There is no more truth in the religion of abundance than there is in the religion of sacrifice. God does not necessarily reward spiritual work with material success. All rewards are spiritual. Happiness, joy, compassion, peace, sensitivity: these are the rewards for a life lived in integrity. You must learn once and for all, to stop measuring spiritual riches with a worldly yardstick. Your lifework can be profoundly successful even if it doesn’t bring in a large paycheck.”

And to clarify the statement: All rewards are spiritual….. these are the eternal gifts received in conscious awareness; rewards that cannot be taken away.

We are told in Malachi 3:10 – “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not open the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.” Bring all the tithes into the storehouse – Eric Butterworth in his book entitled: Spiritual Economics, suggests of this statement, that it is making the commitment to work with the law in all aspects of life; the law of Truth, giving way to the Divine Flow, and in the words, prove me now, God is saying: “prove the law in action.”

For me, the words: prove me now, imply turning to that Inner Presence habitually, allowing that Divine Flow to come forth as guidance, supply, wisdom; to meet all needs. Prove me now and discover the inner kingdom and Truth – and thus overcome, in the moment, the world with all its trials and tribulations.

Truth is the gift of our true inheritance; this substance that the five senses are powerless to discern, is constantly at hand; constantly flowing in and through all life. Yet if we stand back and just see the effects of the human condition and what is taking place in our daily lives, it would seem in some instances that we have come to a frigid standstill.

We need to be awake and alert to Truth and then we have the spiritual reward that is beyond measuring in the world, and we know ourselves then as unique, divine expressions come forth from the infinite formless source of all life and all being, in which state of realization there is no lack and no need. If we are living with any fear of lack or limitation then we are not embracing and believing this Truth.

We want the spiritual rewards, but when it is suggested that we begin and end our days with silence and meditation, suddenly we find excuses. We want to be in the flow of limitless spiritual prosperity, but then divorce ourselves from it by doubting.

To quote Eric Butterworth again, he says: “When you really know yourself as a spiritual being, you experience the fulfilling of the law, which rushes, streams, and pours into you in terms of substance and supply and all that is required for success.”

When we truly understand this we are ready to embrace the gifts (in consciousness) of God, and indeed the statement: “Prove me now.” It is in Spiritual union and communion that we prosper, for the prosperity discerned in consciousness, is eternal and remains with us as we journey forward in life.

    In closing………

“It is in accepting completely in consciousness that the essence of God is all in all, with all and through all, which frees the mind to lift itself out of the consciousness of limitation and doubt, and frees it to make manifest the Cosmic or Christ within itself. It is an awareness of the Divine, I AM PRESENCE, that brings all aspects of the mind into a pattern of unlimited and abundant good.”

    Newsletter – March 2015

    Dear Friends,

2 Chronicles 20:17 Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you.

Daily, it seems, we are doing one of two things: fighting or surrendering. And ironically that which we are fighting, or surrendering to, is the same…..Life! We are either fighting Life or surrendering to Life. Maybe we even vacillate between our fighting and surrendering. The mode of surrender to which I am referring is a “conscious giving over”.

The world we face today can be extremely harsh and practical and impacts on us whether we realize it or not; so to a larger or lesser degree we are subject to the “goings on” in the world, and I know that I do not have to elaborate.

The message this month focuses on ‘Spiritual Wholeness,’ and is nothing new except perhaps the newness of our understanding and intention. Daily we are bombarded with information at many different levels from different sources, and the question that comes to mind is: why are these lines of communication not giving us the Truth?

When we are focused on fighting or resisting world issues, we are investing a lot of energy into what it is that we do not want, and by our very attention are making it more. And are any of the issues resolved in this way? When we surrender, I believe that we are consciously placing all attention and effort into trusting the true Power in Life. Scripture guides in this as you will see from the following examples:
2 Chronicles 20:17 Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you.
Isaiah 30:15 In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and confidence shall be your strength.
Exodus 14:13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord.
For me, these passages have in common, the need to be still, in the Presence.

How many times have we not repeated the words in our Statement of Being on a Sunday morning: “I am an individualized expression of God. I am one with this perfect life, perfect love, and perfect substance?” Do we honestly believe this? Being at one with our Source, with God, is an experience that is unique to each one of us. An inner spiritual knowing that unites us all, and will always do so. It is the truth of our God-given birthright that can never change and will always be the same, but we have to remember it.

Here in our country we have been (and still are) subject to electricity “load-shedding.” Well, maybe it is time to do some personal load-shedding; off-loading that which we may have been mislead to believe; off-loading all that is inconsistent with Truth. We can play the blame game or we can work on bringing the Light of Truth back into perspective – the Light that is waiting to illumine the darkness and dissolve all confusion. And as each comes to that point of enlightened knowing, we in turn serve all. We have been given an opportunity.

So, as we give up the fight in the world and remember who we are in Truth, we surrender to that Truth, and so become the spiritually enlightened beings we are destined to be. And we play our part in living the message of Truth that never changes. We rest then in the Truth that is changeless, that is our anchor in Life, and we experience our true nature and heritage which is Spiritual Wholeness.

SUNDAY SERVICES: All are welcome to join us each week as we take time to Be Still, in Silent Meditation, and then share a Lesson in Truth Principles. NB. Childcare is available if you phone us on Friday before 10:00am to arrange.

    Meditation:
As you sit quietly in your own sacred space, take a deep breath and open your heart to love and peace….

With God, everything is in divine order.
I gently let the awareness of the Presence fill my whole being with Light.
Right now, in this Light, is the sense of surrender and trust.
And in this moment, I trust.
I am an instrument through which the Father expresses his Truth.
    In stillness now, I know…..
    All creation is sustained…..
And in this moment now, from the holy centre of peace within, I say:
Thank you, O most gracious God, for the promise of your eternal Presence.
    Amen

    Newsletter – February 2015

    Dear Friends,

It is time to surrender in faith, to Truth.

With what anticipation are we facing the year ahead? Even thinking about it all can be daunting as change seems to be what the whole world is facing in many different ways. So perhaps to assist in the daily challenges of life, we need to learn to trust life in the moment; in each moment.

This brings to mind a little story that some are familiar with but to me is so appropriate for this time of year, and particularly if we are resisting or fearing change.

It is a story taken from the book: “Illusions” by Richard Bach.
Once there lived a village of creatures along the bottom of a great crystal river. The current of the river swept silently over them all – young and old, rich and poor, good and evil, the current goings its own way, knowing only its own crystal self.
Each creature in its own manner clung tightly to the twigs and rocks of the river bottom, for clinging was their way of life, and resisting the current what each had learned from birth.

But one creature said at last, “I am tired of clinging. Though I cannot see it with my eyes, I trust that the current knows where it is going. I shall let it take me where it will.
The other creatures laughed and said, “Fool! Let go, and that current you worship will throw you tumbled and smashed across the rocks, and you will die quicker than boredom.”

But the one heeded them not, and taking a breath did let go, and at once was tumbled and smashed by the current across the rocks. Yet in time, as the creature refused to cling again, the current lifted him free from the bottom, and he was bruised and hurt no more.

And the creatures downstream, to whom he was a stranger, cried, “See a miracle! A creature like ourselves, yet he flies! See the messiah, come to save us all!” And the one carried in the current said, “I am no more messiah than you. The river delights to lift us free, if only we dare let go. Our true work is this voyage, this adventure.”

But they cried the more, “Savior!” All the while clinging to the rocks, and when they looked again he was gone, and they were left alone making legends of a savior.
And that is where I leave the story.
But it does give us food for thought. Does it not seem perhaps that in different ways we are being challenged to trust life? To stop clinging to how we think things should be? Because there is an underlying spiritual law and principle that does not change…… ever! It is only our understanding that changes; and of course this is our understanding as it evolves through uplifted consciousness.

We have the opportunity at any given time, (yet are perhaps more mindful of this at the beginning of the year) to trust Life…. To trust the originating Source of All Life as It lives us and pulses through us as our very breath and heartbeat.

If you ended the past year feeling all wrung out, and thinking…. “glad that one is over….” Then it is time to stop clinging and surrender in faith to Truth. And this brings to mind, for me, the message contained in the passage found in Luke 12:22-32, which begins….. “Take no thought ….” (do not worry or be anxious… do not cling to human concerns) but rather remember and surrender to the Kingdom (in consciousness) which is already ours.

    Newsletter December 2014/Jan 2015

    Dear Friends,

“What you and I think does not change the truth of Life. Divine Law is working irrespective of our opinions; let us cooperate with the working of law. If we depend upon our inner heritage, the outer will take care of itself.”

I begin my message this month with a quote from Nona L. Brooks – one of the founders of Divine Science. The quote comes from her book, Mysteries.

Now, I could actually stop right there because this is the sum total so to speak of my message. But let us investigate further, together and discover what it really means. And perhaps the most important stage we need to “get to” or “reach”, is a common place of understanding, because without understanding there is fear, confusion, anger and much more that is not comfortable or supportive of a happy, peaceful life of joy and love.

Understanding dissolves, or literally “wipes out” all the fear, resentment, anger and all those uncomfortable emotions that can cause us to miss out on what our purpose in Life is really all about and even more so, about who we are in Truth. These words are applicable to everyone no matter what tradition, culture or background; whether we have faith in a Spiritual Source or not. We cannot be excluded, or escape, from this Law of Life. What immediately appealed to me about Divine Science when I was first exposed to it in 1997, is that it is inclusive, and offered as “A Way”, and not…. “the way”.

We live out the stories of our lives day by day on the physical, mental and spiritual levels, yet as we are so often made aware, our physical and mental levels always correspond to, or tie in with, our degree of spiritual awareness. There are physical laws, and mental laws, but these are superseded by the law of Spirit.

Our material sense of existence tells us that the kind of car we drive will make us who we are, or the type of home we occupy will do it for us; or maybe if I have a connection with people of a certain status, I will have achieved something. I believe many have realized through experience that any satisfaction felt from striving for any of this kind of ideology is short-lived.

The kind of car I drive does not change who I am in truth. We need to realize with Alexander Pope, that…… “All are but parts of one stupendous whole, whose body nature is, and God the soul,” and that includes all humanity. There are world beliefs that we may find ourselves buying into, or being controlled by from time to time – maybe all the time….. But we move to a place (and it is a place in our consciousness) of being free when we realize that the beliefs (in illness, lack, in my religion being the only one to follow, etc, etc.) are just that – our human beliefs; and once we are aware of the constant and continual presence of God we align ourselves then with the Law of Truth. And we understand that all these things of the world come to pass and not to stay; and in understanding, we free ourselves to be receptive to our union in Spirit.

As we enjoy the good times, and the fruits of being on this earth plane, let us always be mindful of the Law of Spirit in which all already is, and through the conscious awareness of this truth more of that is added. Let us carry with us the awesome sense of this Presence that lives and breathes us; this Intelligence which dissolves our inconsequential worries, which become as nothing when brought into the light of truth. We do not need to be living in doubt and turmoil.

As Nona Brooks states: “What you and I think does not change the truth of Life.( We might have a gloomy outlook on life but right now) … Divine Law is working irrespective of our opinions; let us cooperate with the working of law. (So let us try it – and maybe we will find ourselves proving for ourselves that ….) If we depend upon our inner heritage, the outer will take care of itself.”

SUNDAY SERVICES: All are welcome to join us each week as we take time to Be Still, in Silent Meditation, and then share a Lesson in Truth Principles. Childcare is available except during school holidays.

ABUNDANCE CLUB: After the Service on Sunday 30 November, we will have a “drum roll” for the final winner of the Abundance Club. This form of bringing in income to support and maintain the Centre, has “run its course” and while we are grateful to those who participated, there will be no more Abundance Club.

VOLUNTEERS: “Volunteers do not necessarily have the time, they just have the heart.” This quote by Elizabeth Andrew, says it all. We do thank most sincerely all those who do “have the heart” and enthusiastically offer their services in many different ways. To those who support us in consciousness and in kind – your support of the Centre as a continual “pillar of Light” in the community, is acknowledged and valued.

RAFFLE TICKETS: Once again this year, we have books of tickets available for the R5000-00 draw. The incentive is to buy two tickets at R50-00 each and get a third free. The purchase of a full book of 10 tickets costs R350-00. With sufficient tickets sold, the draw will be held before Christmas. We offer the opportunity to win a prize and at the same time assist with the day to day running costs of the Centre.

POTLUCK SUPPER AND CAROLS: On Friday 12 December, there will be a Potluck Supper – bring a supper dish to share and listen to (and sing) carols accompanied by the beautiful harp music of Glenys Bannister. Weather permitting we will be out in the garden. R30-00 per person includes a glass of wine (or juice) and dessert. Time: 6:00pm to 9:00pm. There is a list for names on the notice board, and you may also phone the office on 041-5813309, to book. We would love to have you join us and all are most welcome.

THE CENTRE WILL BE CLOSED: From 26 December 2014 until 20 January 2015, we will be closing for our annual break. The first Service in the New Year will be on 18 January 2015, when we look forward to seeing you all and together with our “spiritual batteries” recharged, move into the New Year with renewed purpose and zeal for Life.

    In Closing…..
In celebrating with family and friends, may your experience be of a joyous and blessed Christmas, as through uplifted consciousness, the Light within grows ever brighter.

    Bountiful blessings,
    MALLORY

    Newsletter – November 2014

    Dear Friends,

At ACT our business is with God.

I was asked the other day, by someone who I had not seen for some time: “What is happening at ACT?” It was at a crowded, social gathering and I just responded in a casual and mundane way. But, later, I pondered the question…. What is happening at ACT??? And it is quite a ‘big’ question. First of all what is it that is expected to be happening here at our Centre; and then….why should anything be ‘happening’?

I am grateful to that individual for posing the question because it really did give me something to think about, quite deeply. What, we could ask, is happening in life all around us? And there is much evidence of change happening in so many different ways, affecting the “kingdoms” of the earth: the animal, vegetable and mineral to name just three affected by global warming and climate change. And if anyone were to ask me: “what is happening in your life right now,” I could give them quite a rundown on what seems to be causing my life to be rather hectic.

When something is “happening”, it is an incident, presenting itself maybe in the form of an adventure, challenge or even a special event. It can also, at a deeper level, be a miracle – supernatural happening. LIFE is – and it is happening continuously at many different levels and being experienced as such at these different levels. I don’t have to expound on the many events and headlines that distract us on a daily basis, as part of living in this world.

At ACT our business is with God. Our focus is on the practice of the Presence of God, and our teaching is based upon the principle of the omnipresence of God. All creation is the expression of God and partakes of the same substance. All of the power and beauty in nature is the result of God’s fiat (authority or decree) going forth – “let there be and it was so.” We are the vehicles, the channels, the instruments through which God expresses and when we align with the truth, that each is a divine expression brought forth from the One Source of all Creation, then we allow ourselves to experience the supreme “happening” – Oneness with Spirit, and ultimately oneness with all.

I have recently being receiving articles about Brother Lawrence in a newsletter to which I subscribe. Now many of you know of him, but just to fill you in: He was a 17th century Carmelite monk, born in 1605. His main intention was: the Practice of the Presence of God, and to undertake every task for the love of God. Now, interestingly, I referred to Jean Pierre de Caussade a couple of weeks ago – a 17th century Jesuit, whose practice was abandonment to God and to the present sacred moment.

Today we have so many fascinating new authors and teachers to inspire us. And again in a recent e-mail I received from a different source, it was stated: “Every so often someone comes along that creates a new paradigm of thinking and being. They then prove it –by being it– and, in turn, showing up in the most amazing ways and truly making a difference on this planet.”

What we need to remember is that each of these folk has had his or her own experience of truth, and while we may be guided by them; truth has to be something we experience for ourselves. A book or teacher can awaken us certainly, but truth comes from within our own consciousness when we let go of all expectation, and through this absolute surrender we (in a sense) allow truth to happen.

Truth calls us to hear with the inner ear, and see with the inner eye. Jesus knew and practiced this way of being; Jean Pierre de Caussade and Brother Lawrence also knew and lived this way, even as the modern authors and teachers are telling us. It is all the same message. They have “got it!!” We have to “get it” too, for ourselves.

As a Centre – we are here to focus on truth, to teach according to the principle of an omnipresent God – and to practice the Presence of the One in whom we are all united. We are not here to play to the wants and needs of the majority. We are not here to water down truth, to diminish it to suit all palates. We are here as a pillar of light in the community – visible to those who see with the inner eye, and hear with the inner ear.

We have those who centuries ago, from the Master Jesus, and down through the ages, have identified and lived their truth and been examples to us. Nothing has changed – truth discovered, is still the same truth. It is the treasure of life waiting for us to partake of it in the New Kingdom of our potential experience.

So, to come back to that initial question: “What is happening at ACT?”
The answer is: The continual practice of the Presence of God. And when we align ourselves with the Truth of Omnipresent Being, God – then we come to that place in consciousness where we experience the supreme “happening” – Oneness with Spirit, and ultimately oneness with all, in spirit.

SUNDAY SERVICES: All are welcome to join us each week as we take time to Be Still, in Silent Meditation, and then share a Lesson in Truth Principles. Childcare is available except during school holidays.

ACT CELEBRATION DINNER: A group of 33 folk enjoyed a wonderful dinner graciously provided by Fat Cats Catering, at the lovely venue of Villa Tuscana. It really was great to come together and celebrate as a group, while being aware of our service to the greater community, through uplifted consciousness.

ABUNDANCE CLUB: We congratulate Twinks Rushmere, who has won the October Draw. There is one more draw this year – at the end of November, and then we begin next year with draws from February to June 2015 (5 months R250-00); followed by draws July to November 2015 (5 months R250-00) We would be delighted to have your continued support in the monthly draws and offer participants the opportunity to win R1000-00 which is up for grabs every month. You may retain your current number and we look forward to enthusiastic bodies signing up now.

DOODLE DAYS: There is one word to express the feedback on the Fifth session ……. in a Creative Adventure with Sara McKenna (from the U.K.) – “enthusiasm”. The examples of decorated coffee mugs were amazing and there is a move afoot to persuade Sara to offer at least one more Doodle Day session before the end of the year. If you are interested please let us know.

GARDEN: A very kind individual has had the experts in to do some much-needed trimming and cutting back of bigger shrubs and tree branches. The garden is now all set for summer and we sincerely appreciate this generous gesture.
General upkeep of the garden: We are also grateful to Rosemary Batchelor for having her gardener assist us on a regular basis, cleaning gutters and general garden duties.

RAFFLE TICKETS: Once again this year, we have books of tickets available for the R5000-00 draw. The incentive is to buy two tickets at R50-00 each and get a third free. The draw will be held before Christmas. We offer the opportunity to win a prize and at the same time assist with the day to day running costs of the Centre.

    In Closing…..

“In the serenity and poise and peace of the inward Spirit a dynamic is established, the nature of which is to move outward and clothe itself in form. It is the expressiveness of the Divine Love which causes all things needful to move toward him who knows – toward him who, by knowing, abides in the Spirit. That is why the seers of ancient times said, “Thy good is seeking after thee; therefore cease thou from seeking after it.”

    Newsletter – October 2014

    Dear Friends,

The Kingdom of God is ours by divine birthright.

At the beginning of 2010, Helen and I sent out a letter – an invitation really – “to consciously enhance the purpose of our existence!”
    And the letter began……
“When we look around us at what is happening in the world, it seems as if Life is forcing us to look anew at our creative skills. It seems to be calling those who know where the power of transformation lies, to take responsibility for that knowledge.”
And the letter which indicated the value of participating in classes, concluded….
“The Kingdom of God is ours by divine birthright, but if we are to enjoy its treasures, we have to be prepared to do what is necessary to access them.”

Well, when we take note of what is happening in the world around us, these words apply still; perhaps even more so, today. In the midst of what we may perceive as turmoil on so many different levels in the world – so many challenges – the Kingdom of God is still accessible, still awaiting our acknowledgement, yet requiring more than an intellectual knowledge of it.

We experience in life what we know/hold as true, within our own consciousness. That is why so often in trying to lift up another, it appears we do not succeed. So, having stated all this, what is expected of us? What can we do?

This month I am going to offer a suggested “solution” which I have taken from the shared wisdom of two individuals. And the idea is to ultimately realize that what they are saying, and what we teach as a Divine Science extension campus, is the same and it all fits together.

About a week or so ago, on the social network, I came across the following words beautifully read by Marianne Williamson. She was investigating how to deal with all that is happening around the world today. She read from Lesson 109 – A Course in Miracles – and I share part of that with you now:

“I rest in God.” This thought will bring to you the rest and quiet, peace and stillness, and the safety and the happiness you seek. “I rest in God.” This thought has power to wake the sleeping truth in you, and the safety and the happiness you seek. “I rest in God.” This thought This thought will bring to you the rest and quiet, peace and stillness, has power to wake the sleeping truth in you, whose vision sees beyond appearances to that same truth in everyone and everything there is. Here is the end of suffering for all the world, and everyone who ever came and yet will come to linger for a while. Here is the thought in which the Son of God is born again, to recognize himself.

This is the day of peace. You rest in God, and while the world is torn by winds of hate your rest remains completely undisturbed. Yours is the rest of truth. Appearances cannot intrude on you. You call to all to join you in your rest, and they will hear and come to you because you rest in God. They will not hear another voice than yours because you gave your voice to God, and now you rest in Him and let Him speak through you.
In her address following the reading, she stated that she believes there is an awakening on the planet by those who have heard the call.”

Now here at ACT, we have not been concerned about numbers, but rather about conscious intention – the desire by individuals to grow in consciousness, so our teaching is not for the masses. We find this too in the “remnant” referred to in Isaiah – a lesson for another time; and as Deepak Chopra stated in an article, as he acknowledged like-minded individuals throughout the planet, doing their best to be the change they want to see in the world, using their small numbers to make a great difference.

What I found interesting is the way that Marianne Williamson said that we are not to worry about the “majority myth.” Because, she stated: “the majority does not lead – they follow. The majority is not the issue; the critical mass (tipping point) is the issue. All that is needed is a relatively small percentage of any system for the thinking to change in order to tip the system itself.”

And now I offer this “solution” taken from Joel Goldsmith’s book – TheThunder of Silence, where he states the following:
“As we meet with problems of every nature – conflicts, enemies, hatred, persecution, injustice – we no longer try to reach out to remove them either physically or mentally, but we rest in His word. We rest from all power, and God works the miracle. Ramblings of the thunder of the deep Silence of My peace reverberate and increase in power until eventually they break every barrier. The mighty noise of the Silence grows in volume until its thunder rends asunder the veils of illusion, and God stands revealed in all His majesty, glory and peace.”

So much of our attention is drawn to what is happening in the world around us, that it can be overwhelming. The answer (or solution) in Marianne Williamson’s words, is to let what is not working, fall away. And instead of putting our human shoulders to the wheel (so to speak) with great physical and mental trauma, we need to REST IN GOD. And of course Joel Goldsmith gives us the exact same guidance.
    It is up to us!!!!

    Dear Friends,

“There is equality of God within ourselves.”  Meister Eckhart

A month or so ago, I came across something very interesting on the internet, about a song festival that takes place every 5 years in Estonia. This has been happening for 140 years, and is held as an enormous open-air choir-concert at the Tallin Song Festival grounds with the participation of thousands of singers.

The average number of singers on the stage is 18,000. Only the best choirs make it to the festival – the competition is stiff and they practice for years beforehand. In the open-air grounds there is space for more than 100,000 spectators. The first song festival was held in June 1869.

Now I am not going to go into all the facts but there is a belief that the Estonians sang themselves free from the Soviet occupation, and I quote briefly from one of the articles I
downloaded: “Every five years since 1869, Estonians have come together around a unique choral event called Laulupidu. This year, 2014, more than 33,000 singers performed for an audience of 153,000. Laulupidu has been a force for helping this country of 1.3 million endure occupation and oppression.”

I watched the Laulupidu (which took place this year on 6 July), on U-tube, and was so amazed at the huge connectedness of the people; both on the stage and as spectators. An experience of up-lifted consciousness; everyone linked in song and music, lifted above and beyond the material world with all of its conflict.

Frank Fitzpatrick, a musician, stated the following:
“The spiritual nature of music cannot be defined by religion, culture or genre. Music precedes and transcends all of these frameworks. To even compare music and spirituality as if they were independent concepts feels a bit odd to me. Music is, at its essence, the sound of spirit. When created with the heart and with truth and pure intention, music is a spiritual expression of the most universal nature and the highest order.”

The Estonian people seem, over the years, to have outgrown their problems of occupation and oppression by growing (transforming) in consciousness with the help of their music. Much is going on in the world today that could be changed by people outgrowing the problem. And the fight is basically a human need for more, when as stated by Meister Eckhart, “There is equality of God within ourselves.” But this equality can only be realized in consciousness and then brought into our world experience. And here Jesus was our perfect example. According to Richard Rohr, Jesus transformed religion, but then we (mankind) created a problem by worshipping Jesus instead of following Him on His path. So we made Jesus into a mere religion instead of a journey toward union with God.

Rabbi Rami Shapiro states it well when he says: (and I paraphrase)
I love Jesus because I love Christ, that awakened mind that reveals the unity of God, woman, man, and nature. (John 10:30) My problem with Christianity is that it teaches Christians to worship Jesus rather than to become Christ. Of course you might challenge me, saying, “but that’s because you aren’t a Christian.” And I would respond, “that’s why I’m not a Christian!” If Christianity taught me to be Christ, to awaken to my truest Self and realize that all beings are manifestation of the singular Be-ing that is God, I would be drawn to it like a moth to a flame.

Are we staying stuck in certain issues and problems or are we taking time to realize who we are in truth? Are we heeding the call when Jesus said: “what is that to thee….follow thou me.?” Is our intended journey toward union with God?

As I watched the Estonian song festival unfold, I felt so lifted up by the experience. The joy, the inclusive participation between singers and spectators was amazing. With so much upheaval in different parts of the world, it is certainly heartening to see the transformation taking place in others. And I do believe it is a transformation in consciousness.

Yes, we all share equally the originating Source of all Life that breathes us, sustains and maintains us, and is the very heart beat of all creation. So let us then be the outlets for the Voice of Creation, as we joyously acknowledge our truth.

    Newsletter – August 2014

    Dear Friends,

    Turn to God…….

I am sure you all know the story of the Cherokee grandfather who, in teaching his grandson about life, related the story of the two wolves that reside within us. The one supports the negative issues of greed, self-pity, guilt and so on; while the other is joyful, peaceful, kind and compassionate. The grandfather explained that this is true of everyone and there is the same conflict between the two wolves going on constantly. When the grandson wants to know which wolf wins, the grandfather’s reply is: “the one you feed the most.” Now this is the common ending to the story but according to Cherokee wisdom the story has this ending: “if you feed them right, they both win.”

By “feeding them both,” in other words, acknowledging they both exist means there is no longer the internal battle for attention. And when there is no inner conflict, we are able to listen and hear the voice of a deeper knowing that will guide us in choosing what is right in the moment.

In the world around us we have evidence of the two wolves; and it seems that we are on a constant battlefield of win/lose, win/lose. And this is because we try to have one wolf, one party, one country, or team, win and the other lose. Winning in the world is only temporary, because after the so-called win, the next challenge appears. When we move beyond the two wolves, then we understand that there is something prevailing in this moment and for all eternity – Truth.

Who or what do we turn to in challenging times? God – but then so often we also direct God as to how a situation or issue needs to be resolved. Turning to God means: giving over to, surrendering, listening….. “speak Lord, they servant heareth.”

Turning to God in surrender is “falling into God” letting go of the human thoughts, issues, and specific desires as to outcome; not paying heed to the two wolves at all, but trusting the originating Power and Source of all creation. Ram Dass is quoted as saying: “The quieter you become the more you can hear.” The mind becomes alert when we are still and we are able to embrace that hidden wholeness that resides within us all. It is the wolves who do the fighting and fuel the conflict in the world.

It is time to take a new approach; that of faith, and cultivating a deep trust in Truth. For some perhaps it is easier to stay in the prisons of their current mindsets, yet all the time Truth – as the still small voice deep within – is calling and reminding us that it is our birthright to be free. And we find this freedom in consciousness when we wake up to what already is, and who we are in truth. Many have known this freedom; many have proved it for themselves, yet this is what the “world” measuring stick fails to do: it cannot measure what we prove for ourselves at the deep inner level of knowing. Through connecting in stillness with the Christ Consciousness let us move into a deeper realization of the hidden wholeness that embraces us all. It is not recognized by the ego or the human mind, rather it is sensed at a deeper level, as the Presence that is with us always.

SUNDAY SERVICES: All are welcome to join us each week as we take time to Be Still, in Silent Meditation, and then share a Lesson in Truth Principles. Childcare is available except during school holidays.

Each and every one is valued – you do make a difference!

    In Closing…..

“When man has consciously partaken of the Inner Breath, his outer breathing begins to change. At first it takes on a rhythmic movement of strength and steadiness, and then gradually it ceases to be expressed in any outer movement. As his consciousness enters more and more deeply into oneness with the Divine, he seems to withdraw, as it were, from the human. He forgets himself entirely and touches that Inner Reality of the Divine Breath in which there is no physical manner of motion, for he is breathing the breath of that vital Force and Energy which is too fine to be recorded physically.

Then, on the silent wings of that Breath of pure understanding, there is born in him a knowledge of the mysteries of the Kingdom of God and His righteousness. In other words, he is given to breathe the Heavenly Wisdom. He who breathes that Breath becomes God. There, in the quiet, in the silence, in the holy chamber of his being, man is aware that he and God are one. He knows and experiences the truth of the words of Jesus: “I and My Father are one.” We are not two. We are not separate beings. We are one.”

    Newsletter – July 2014

    Dear Friends,

In the workshop, “Working with the Inner Christ,” which is moving into the last session this week, we have been discussing evolving consciousness.

Essentially the focus has been on moving beyond our limited way of being to a realization of who we are in truth; to the point where we can accept and associate with that truth and not its seeming contradiction as so often can happen when we get caught up in what the world deems important.

So much changes when we live from our core truth, without our even trying. When we give to life (our offerings in service perhaps, or just going about our daily tasks) our giving flows from our authenticity in consciousness. And even without realizing it, we make an impact. When we drift from the core of who we are in truth, we lose in a sense, our authenticity; because we have moved away from it.

In exercise classes, and those of you who attend the gym will know what I am talking about; there is much emphasis on exercising the core. Now this is the physical core that is being given attention. We need to be exercising awareness of our spiritual core; our spiritual core which is the truth of who we are. It is the uncontaminated blueprint of each individual, come forth from the source of all creation – God. And no matter how far away we move from this truth in our minds, we can never change it.

When we realize for ourselves, the creative source of our being our lives become more purposeful. As individuals we need to remain on purpose, by being aware of who we are and living it. As a Centre we need to remain on purpose by remembering not to drift from the core of what we teach. And what we offer needs to match up with what we teach. Our foundation as individuals, and as a Centre, needs to be firmly placed in Spiritual Principle – Spiritual Principle that is universally applicable.

It is not about saying something new – it is about the consciousness from which it is said and taught, and the consciousness in which it is received. The teaching: based on the Omnipresence of God – or whatever name we give to the One Source of All. It is clearly stated in the Sunday programmes in our Statement of Being. And this is not an outdated teaching – it is all about consciousness and evolving the understanding of the individual which will ultimately make a difference to the collective, or mass consciousness.
We are all part of the evolvement in consciousness, moving towards our inner truth, towards understanding with the Christ Consciousness that: “I and the Father are one.”

SUNDAY SERVICES: All are welcome to join us each week as we take time to Be Still, in Silent Meditation, and then share a Lesson in Truth Principles. Childcare is available except during school holidays.

BEQUEST: In deep gratitude we acknowledge receipt of a recent bequest from the estate of the late Tony Lange who many of you will remember as a most enthusiastic and long-standing member of ACT. In fact Tony was one of June Jones’ earliest students – always very active, and he participated in many ways to support the Centre and the Teaching. His thoughtful generosity is truly appreciated.

    The recipe as promised:
    Hearty Cowboy Hotpot
1 onion sliced 1 can sweetcorn
1 red pepper sliced 1 tablespoon tomato paste
500g potatoes thinly sliced seasoning as desired – salt/pepper
    2 carrots sliced 250g cheese
2 tablespoons sunflower oil 120g green beans
    400g can baked beans

Fry the onion, pepper and carrots in the oil until soft but not brown. Add green beans, baked beans, sweetcorn, tomato paste and seasoning. Bring to boil, then simmer for 5 minutes. Transfer vegetables to a shallow ovenproof dish and scatter top with cubed cheese. Cover vegetables and cheese with sliced potatoes – brush with butter and bake at 190 degrees C for 30 to 40 minutes until golden brown on top and the potato is cooked. Enjoy with fresh green salad.

“What is your highest Truth? What it is today, it may not be tomorrow, for we are evolving into a higher consciousness….moving ever closer to Christhood. Yet, we move from one level to another by living and practicing the highest Truth we consciously know on each level. When we realize one Truth we are ready for the next step and the process continues.”

  • Newsletter – May 2014

    Dear Friends,

    “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings as eagles.”

    Isaiah 40-31

In clearing out a bookshelf I came across a magazine article which stated: “We need to maintain both sanity and balance in these times of vast upheavals and constant change.” Well, these words are certainly applicable today, so you may be interested when I tell you that the article quoted from was printed in a Science of Mind Magazine dated March 1975! – some 39 years ago!

Whatever the age or era, life always evolves and dishes up various lessons for us and being in this school of life is not always easy. We cannot just sit on the sidelines and observe; we are actively involved. The article continued: “It is essential to rest secure in the knowledge that beyond the world of the senses there is the spiritual realm that does not change. Our true home, while we are on earth, and our final destination when we leave it, lies in this vast kingdom.” And this is the focus of the message this month – our true identity; our true destiny.

When we take stock of our focus on a daily basis we might find that we are more easily stressed than peaceful. And maybe this is due to our being so subjected to the sounds of the world and the worldly messages that we are not “tuned in” to the voice of Spirit. We have within us all the widom, love, joy, peace, knowledge and understanding which are some of the inherencies of the kingdom. The voice of Spirit continues to call to us, yet we are, for the most part, so caught up in the clamour of the world that we do not hear.

God speaks to us in the silence and we need to enter into the silence and remove ourselves from the noise of life, on a daily basis. The silence is the medium through which we communicate with God, and when we enter into the silence we do so with no other intention than to listen to God.

In life with all its changes and challenges we need to seek that haven – that place of no change – where truth is constant. And there, in the silence, will the solutions to our problems be revealed to us. There in the silence we will receive wisdom and guidance. Those that wait upon the Lord do renew their strength; why do you think we are told: “Be still, and know that I am God.”? Jesus proved this – He took time out to enter the closet – the place of stillness……silence.

“In a complete Silence, with no attempt to use God, use Truth, or use a power over anybody or for anybody, something takes place within us that dissolves the problems of life and makes the way one of joy and fulfillment.” Joel Goldsmith – The Thunder of Silence.

“I, I in the midst of you is the only power. Rest in that truth. Do not go any further; rest in it. That is enough. I, the I of you is God, and the I of you is power, and there are no other powers.”
