“Do We Cast Our Blessings Or Our Blame?”

In John 8:7 we read: “He who is without sin, cast the first stone.”  And we all know the story of the woman blamed for her sin and those around her very keen to judge her and stone her.  After those words spoken by Jesus, no-one was able to cast the stones they already held in their hands.

Let us clarify the meaning of “sin,” and we teach in Divine Science that the only sin, is when we, in our minds, separate ourselves from Truth/God.  Now it is important to realize that we cannot actually do this; we are always ONE WITH GOD, TRUTH ALWAYS IS,  yet we forget, and as a result we live what we believe in any circumstance and situation, and reap accordingly.  Sin is…. missing the mark!

Jesus’ words were a reminder to those who were so quick to judge the woman, and we need to be mindful of them too. It may come easy to us to cast blame on someone or a challenging circumstance, yet we do have another option.

We are always casting something from our minds which are never still. Our thoughts and beliefs are always going forth from us; and they are like boomerangs – returning to us fulfilled. We all know the words: “as a man thinketh, and believeth, so is he!” Every day – in fact countless times a day, we cast out our thoughts and our beliefs.  These go out from our consciousness, very often quite mindlessly, and equally often we forget that what we give out comes back to us.  There will always be corresponding returns.

What often seems idyllic to us does not have lasting effects.  So what is it then that takes us to a level of completeness and satisfaction that is totally fulfilling and not fleeting?  Well let us take a look at three examples from scripture, remembering that the stories in scripture are not about people and incidents that took place many, many years ago………they are our stories too……applicable in life today.

We begin with the story of Ruth which gives the example of Naomi casting blame for their situation, and Ruth who rose above their situation. Ruth, metaphysically, represents love, and she illustrates for us how human love can be transcended and raised to divine love through willingness and choice.  She was a blessing to Naomi who, through Ruth’s example, rediscovered her own spiritual identity.

The story of Joseph, shows how he rose above all the challenges he faced  by turning always to God and in fact even telling his brothers in Genesis 45:8: “It was not you that sent me hither, but God.”  Even in the midst of all the misery to which he had been subjected, he chose not to blame; he saw God at work in his life.

We come next to Elijah, hiding out in a cave as all the other prophets of God had been slain. He was then told to pay heed to the seven thousand that remained true to God; the remnant, that presented a new opportunity for Elijah.  He heard the instruction when he became still and receptive to that inner small voice.

By maintaining spiritual awareness, we are being true not only to ourselves, but to the whole. From this inner centering come the blessings as they flow forth through our consciousness. We have the examples of those, who through spiritual consciousness, have attained a greater understanding and experience of Truth, and through this deeper awareness, in turn have cast their blessings.  Let us take stock: are we casting blessing or blame? We have the choice!!

In Closing……  Material consciousness is based upon the acceptance of the material, objective world as real.  It is the acceptance of materiality as being the decisive factor of existence.  It believes in appearances rather than in the truth behind appearances.  his state of consciousness limits man.  He sees certain conditions and accepts the outer appearance as inevitable, immovable and permanent.

Spiritual consciousness is that state of consciousness that is based upon true, divine ideas.  This consciousness is rooted in the realization of the absolute, the one mind and its creative activity, as the reality;  and in the understanding that man is a spiritual being ever connected with the Source, through mind essence. When man makes the effort to establish himself in spiritual consciousness, every aspect of his being begins to show forth accordingly.  His affairs and environment respond.  A spiritual consciousness is a radiating center of good in our world.

Dear Friends,

“Equal Opportunity”

Are we ready to accept that in life we do have equal opportunity?  It is the equal opportunity in consciousness that is the focus of this message.  After all, at the core of our being…at the point of origination as an idea in the mind of God, we are all equal. Are we ready to consider this…to believe it?

What we  initially perceive as  a challenge in life,  blocking our way forward, may in fact be one of our greatest gifts—causing us to stop and take stock.  Time to rethink and rediscover a new way of seeing life.  In Genesis we read: “and God saw all that he had made…and it was good.”  What has happened to that goodness? Has it become something else, or even disappeared?  No!! What God created still is and always will be…!

In the world we live in,  made aware of “new” illnesses, “new” cures, “new” diets and so on, we get caught up in  these things and they become our reality. Why do we need the new diet or cure? Because the belief is that there is something to be healed.  We look at curing or fixing the physical or even psychological ailment, yet the belief in these ailments still remains, with many of the human illnesses giving rise to much fear in individuals. Bearing in mind that each of us originates as an idea from God mind, then surely we can see that we are working at cross-purposes to Truth much of the time. Is health not our natural state?

Firstly, we need to look beyond human conditions and realize that what we are, at the point of origination, cannot change. The way in which we can experience BEING AT ONE WITH GOD is in our conscious knowing of IT.

Secondly, to recognize that any challenge or suffering is a way to grab our attention. In this second step we can easily miss the point by trying to “fix” the suffering and putting all our attention on that, when we could be asking ourselves: “what is this really all about?” It is about remembering that, which deep down, we already know: truth resides in consciousness; and we are not governed by mental or physical laws, but by the law of Spirit. Our belief in anything other than God and spiritual law is really our only problem in life.

Thirdly, Being consciously receptive. And it is during our quiet times and meditation that guidance is revealed.

We need to be reminded that equal opportunity has nothing to do with the human condition, because all begins in the invisible Source of Spirit. We embrace the truth of God as absolute and omnipresent Good, expressing as, and through, each individual.  This belief in consciousness then, is carried through into our world of experience, and we become receptive to the treasures on our respective paths.

Do we realize that we are living out our beliefs?  We have equal opportunity to believe in, and accept, as much of the truth as we can embrace in consciousness and thereby enjoy the fruits of Spirit that are ours by divine birthright. It is only in consciousness that we are receptive and ready for all, that as children of God, we have been promised.

Let us see the challenges for what they really are.  Let us be ready and receptive to understand and acknowledge in consciousness the gift of Truth in these words: “Son/daughter, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.”

In Closing……  Many people believe peace and joy come when conditions are what they want them to be.  Peace comes when the doctor tells us the tumor is benign. We are joyful when we are picked for the new assignment.  For too long peace and joy have originated in earthly conditions. When this happens, peace and joy are fleeting.  We want them to be constant companions, but they are like fickle friends.  They come, and they go.  There is a peace that passes understanding and a joy that is boundless.  People throughout all the ages have experienced peace and joy transcending earthly conditions.  In fact, in stressful conditions peace has come as a forerunner of greater good. Joy has been experienced while sitting alone late at night. The truth is the world has no peace or joy for us.  When we are consciously one with God, there is peace and joy. When we lose our sense of oneness, then peace and joy are gone.   At least this is the way it seems, but the truth is peace and joy are innate to us.  They are part of our spiritual nature.  When we are consciously one with   Spirit, what is innate to us can be experienced.   Jim Rosemergy – A Closer Walk With God

Dear Friends,

“This Too Shall Pass”

“The universe is an awfully big and divergent place; where there is room for all kinds of beings, beliefs and endless realities. Yet within this multiplicity there is Oneness and connection: this is the goal of our journey.” The words that stand out for me in the above quote from Dr Stewart Bitkoff are: that whatever else comes to pass there is Oneness and connection.

I am sure that many of you can think back to a time when it seemed that whatever was challenging you, in whatever way, would never pass.  Yet here we all are!  In the world today we do not need to be reminded of all the changes happening thick and fast in so many different ways.  And these things too will pass, as we maintain intentional focus and purpose. Well, we might ask ourselves, “what is our motive in turning to God, to Truth?”

Stated in the quote earlier: within the multiplicity there is Oneness and connection. And this is our goal.  Jesus experienced this oneness; this connection, and told us that we too are included.  “Call One your Father.” What happened mostly was that this Master Teacher was followed by the masses for what they perceived that he did – the miracles – and people were after these benefits, not really needing to know how because He was doing it for them.  Hardly any really paid heed to His teaching.  And even today in many ways Jesus is promoted as being apart from all mankind; the exception to us all.

In our classes in discussion relating to all coming forth from the invisible to the visible, the idea is that the tree is more valuable than the fruit.  If the tree is not nurtured it will not bear fruit.  The apples or oranges last only a particular season, but the tree can bear for many years. Yet in our world today, so often our focus comes back to the fruit; all the distractions on offer. Christ Consciousness is the tree – our very own inherited birthright – and still we do not grasp and believe this. We go back to those words of Jesus – not just words, but his own realized experience – “I and the Father are one, and all that the Father has is mine.  The emphasis is that this is true for each one, but (as with Jesus) these words need to be realized in consciousness by each individual. THE ONENESS NEEDS TO BE OUR OWN  UNIQUE EXPERIENCE. It is in consciousness we sense the Inner Presence living us.

We are talking universal spiritual principles. An omnipresent God; the One Source of all that can never be separate from us nor we from IT. We have been steered toward embracing and practicing these principles of Life by various way-showers through the ages, and when we do consciously connect with this truth of our being – that is our true religion – our connection in consciousness with the One.

The things of the world come to pass never to stay.  Currencies fluctuate, rulers of countries change, fashions come and go so fast these days.  All these things…..but who we are in Truth is eternal.  It is only our realization in consciousness that grows and deepens and ultimately makes the crooked places straight. Whatever it is that you may feel challenged by right now, turn your attention to God, and know with gentle certainty…. This too shall pass!  As we move mindfully into that inner sacred place where Spirit is to be found, IN GRATITUDE, WE REMEMBER..

In Closing……

The greatest power on earth is the power of silence. Spiritual power cannot be expressed in words or thoughts, nor can it come through words or thoughts.  Only through silence, when the senses are at rest, can spiritual power be released.

When we enter meditation and close our eyes to “this world,” let us remember that we are now in the corridor, or at least we are behind the door that opens to Infinity. Through our consciousness, we have access to the infinity of God, the activity of God, the substance and the law of God.  All this is within us.

Let us enter into meditation and go to the Spirit for the purpose of enlightenment, with a complete freedom from concepts, and then receive the truth that in the presence of God there is fulfillment and freedom, freedom from any sense of limitation.

Dear Friends,

“Spiritual Unfoldment is an Individual Matter.”

It is interesting – maybe to a degree even disappointing to some – that what we prove for ourselves cannot be proved for another.  Let me elaborate.  In writing  of spiritual unfoldment being an individual matter, which at times we even attempt to disprove, we find ourselves with all good intentions wanting to assist others on a path in Life that we have discovered.

So…..essentially what I have proved for myself, and am still in process of doing so, I cannot prove for you.  Let us for a moment take the words found in Malachi 3:10:-  “Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of Hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there will not be room enough to receive it.” At the outset let me confirm that although we generally relate this passage to money and tithing, there is more.  Bring all the tithes into the storehouse – if we look at the storehouse as being CONSCIOUSNESS; what are we, as individuals, bringing into our own consciousness?  Are we mindful of the TITHE – the fact that we are continually investing?  Are we giving at least 10% of our attention to TRUTH?

Truth recognized and put into practice in daily life is unlimited in its returns.  A way opens up that before could not even have been imagined by our limited human minds.  Prove me now – not in the world – “prove me now in consciousness,” which then takes us on our  individual sacred journey.  In life we drop or move on from what no longer serves us purposefully, yet the journey continues.  And this we need to remember – the journey of life never ends; and each moment we experience in awareness, is new and sacred.

Tenzing Norgay was the sherpa who accompanied Sir Edmund Hilary to the summit of Everest in 1953. The following is taken from a book entitled: “Touching My Father’s Soul,” written by his son, Jamling Tenzing Norgay:  “One reason why people go into the mountains is to experience the purity of the five elements – air, sky, earth, water and fire. In the mountains, worldly attachments are left behind, and in the absence of material distractions, we are opened up to spiritual thought.  When we look out at the ocean or gaze at the sky and the clouds, or even the rock wall of a mountain, it is difficult for our minds to form labels.  What is it we are really looking at?  There is no real thing there – just colour and shape.  And when we stop attaching labels to what we see, a sense of quietness flows in to fill the gap, bringing us a step closer to the understanding of emptiness.”

Ironically, in this emptying of worldly thinking, attachment and judgement, the storehouse (CONSCIOUSNESS) is filled with Truth!  As we drop our five-sensory mode, the truth that is always there anyway, emerges or comes to the fore, bringing with it the unlimited blessings promised to us.  The fruits of the world are temporary, and run out.  The fruits of Spirit never run out. In the world we have the ebb and the flow (the loops going back and forth);  in Spirit there is only the continuous flow through which we receive  ABSOLUTE LOVE, WISDOM, UNDERSTANDING, JOY AND PEACE.

When a train goes off the rails, literally, there is disaster; is it any different when we go off track as we journey on through life?  Come back to aligning with the Truth that runs through all of life and makes the seeming crooked places straight  Come back to investing in Truth knowing that right now, in consciousness, the place whereon you stand is holy ground.

In Closing……

We come back to those words in Malachi: “Prove me now!”  And it is all about individually experiencing God.  Only I can do this for me; only you can do it for you!  And this proving is a mystical experience, beyond description in mere words, because words confine it; but it is much like the experience in the mountains, described by Jamling Tenzing Norgay.  And each will have his or her own unique demonstration of the Presence of God.

The awareness in consciousness of the Presence brings with it all the blessings from the windows of heaven.  And the price?? Living in mindful consciousness of God.  We all have our “loopy” times, called that when we are way off track; and we waver from one side to the other.  In awareness we observe what we are doing and come back to that centre point in God – ALIGNED WITH TRUTH.

The rewards are priceless because, being spiritual, they remain in our consciousness and become part of who we are and then flourish and grow as our understanding grows; and we know that these gifts are infinite and eternal.   There is nothing missing from our lives.  We need to understand this: that with God as the source and foundation of our very existence all the fruits of Spirit; the wisdom, intelligence, joy, peace and love are ours. Align with this Truth, work with it, stay with it.  Bring all your tithes into the storehouse of your consciousness; mindful of the eternal Presence of God, and allow the unlimited blessings free flow.

Bountiful blessings,

 Mallory

Dear Friends,

“The Application”

An application could be seen as applying for a job, a loan, an appointment.  Well, we are here in the world and it seems that even if we are not initially aware that we applied in the first place—we got the job!  Here we all are and it is not by chance—we are here to do and be, at what seems to be a most pivotal time in history.

All around us we are being challenged as rapid changes are taking place. Change for many is challenge enough; yet it seems that Life is looking to each of us to apply ourselves at this time; and whether we realize it or not, we are actually equipped for the position.  The passage found in James 1:22-25 states: Be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.  But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.

Divine Science, a way to live life, is a practical teaching. Intellect and theory take us just so far and then more importantly, we put into practice the truth principles we have learned. By doing this we are working with the Law—aligning with the truth of our being….and this is Real Life. We are told not to put new wine into old wineskins. We cannot take something new, be it a new way of seeing things, a new way of understanding, a new way of being, and overlap it onto the old ways. In order to experience a new life, world, etc., the old ways (not values) need to be broken down completely to make way for the new.

“New” in Divine Science is seeing with new eyes; understanding and embracing Truth that has always been and always will be. We come to the realization of it in a new way.  In order to apply truth; in order to live life in a new way, we need first to look inward. Change is required to bring about the new.  As uncomfortable as it is, we are getting signs and wake-up calls to live life in a different way. In our teaching, we emphasize Oneness and the contact we make with each other and the earth needs to be at the soul level.

Right now we are being offered a new beginning and this requires our being differently in the world; it is a spiritual undertaking that can proceed once we realize that truth resides at the core of each individual. We are dealing with an Omnipresent God, so we are ultimately dealing with Truth.  Life today is calling for a new way of applying ourselves; a new and uplifted way of being in the world. Let us not fear the “breaking down” of things at so many levels around us; let us rather be heartened that whatever appears to be happening, is making way for Life to emerge in a different way.

Life is always lived from the inner to the outer. First in mind, and then in manifestation.  What is taking place right now around the planet, as distressing as it is, is also waking us up to a huge opportunity. The opportunity of a different way of being; the opportunity, with our co-operation, of a world alert to true peace, love and understanding. A world where we revere all life, and as caretakers of this beautiful planet, we are fulfilling the job we came here to be part of.  The application of truth is required as we embark on a new way of living and BEING, in the continued practice of the Presence.

In Closing……    Listen to the Cosmic Christ, to Cosmic Wisdom calling  all the children of God together:  “Come , children, drink of my water which are all common waters.  They are free and available to all my children.  Drink of my wisdom from your own unique well.  Let the Taoists drink and the Muslims drink; let the Jews drink and the Buddhists drink; let the Christians drink and let the native peoples drink.  And then tell me:  What have you drunk?  How deeply have you imbibed my refreshment?  What wet and running wisdom drips from inside you to the outside?  What have you to share with others of my wisdom and harmonious living, of the dripping of the oils of compassion and the lubricants of your common anointings as my images, my other “Christs,” my co-creators of wisdom on earth?

I am tired of your religious wars, your sectarian divisions, your crusading spirits that arise from disharmony.  I long for harmony.  If there must be competition let it take place at the level of shared gifts and the bountiful outpouring of wisdom.  Pray together.  Create harmony and healing together. Celebrate, praise, and thank together. Cease using religion  to divide. Use it for its purpose, to reconnect to Mother Earth, to blessings, to the underground river that I am and that you all share.  And cease scandalizing  the young by your indifference to these awesome blessings, by your competition, and your boredom.  Praise one another, praise the earth.  In doing so, you praise me.

Matthew Fox—The Coming of the Cosmic Christ.

 Mallory

Dear friends,

“The Joy In Crisis”

Some may be puzzled by the subject of the message this month: The Joy in Crisis. Yet, when we really consider it, crisis brings us back to who and what we truly are, and that is a joyful discovery.  Crisis forces us to do and be, in a different way; it pushes us to change, as it brings out capabilities and potential that we would not otherwise be aware of in normal day-to-day circumstances.  As humans in this game of life that we play, we seem to have so many needs.  And we really get caught up in these needs.

Let us get back to CRISIS:  It is defined in the dictionary as “a crucial point or situation in the course of anything; a turning point.”  It comes from the Greek word, Krisis – meaning turning point.  So, crisis brings us to a turning point – and obviously we have many different levels or degrees of crisis.  Crisis pushes us to redefine ourselves; to re-evaluate the situation – we are brought to a turning point where a different approach is necessary.  In every crisis, life is giving us another chance or opportunity to break out of the old pattern of limitation that blocks us from fully realizing the power and potential within us.  Each and every crisis we experience is an opportunity for transformation.  And when we really think about it, crises are mostly related to what we believe we don’t have, and want; or what we have, and don’t want.

We have many wonderful stories throughout scripture that illustrate transformation brought about when individuals faced crisis or crises in their lives. Some are: Job, Joseph, Daniel.

Let us briefly look at the story of the loaves and fishes found in Matthew 14:14-21 and in fact, all four gospels, dealing with the crisis of thousands of people who needed feeding from (it seems) only five loaves and two fishes.  In all four gospels, not once is it mentioned that the loaves and fishes were multiplied.  They broke the loaves and fishes and passed them out. No mention of a miracle. According to  George Lamsa, in his book, Gospel Light, people who travelled always carried enough bread with them, especially in the desert.  It would seem that as the food the young boy offered initially, was handed out, others who still had food concealed in their garments, also shared what they had.

I share a brief quote from Eric Butterworth now who explains as follows:  “Substance is not material and substance has no quantity. Wherever spirit is at all, the whole of spirit must be, and because spirit is omnipresent, the whole of spirit must be present in its entirety at every point in space.  Every cell contains within it, the allness of supply. Substance does not have to be multiplied—it has to be used! Every person is in the flow of substance!”

Just as loaves and fishes were a symbol of limitation to the disciples—in crisis, our symbols of limitation may be money, lack of employment, lack of self-esteem.  We need to get past this and understand that substance is a divine flow within us.  This is what is meant when we are told to seek first the kingdom—and when we do this—through inner awareness will come the money, jobs, loaves and fishes.   It is not miracles or magic! It is Spiritual Law! It is consciousness unfolding. It is often crisis that sets us on the route to uncover or discover our God-given potential. We are consciousness unfolding, so welcome the turning point in your life today!

In Closing……

See and think only from the standpoint that Spirit is our only Substance and Identity. The one immaculate Body is ours here and now. The perfect Universe of Spirit is within us and about us. Verily what has been called a material world shall be known to be the City of God.  Our Body, which may seem to be physical or material, shall be found to be immaculate—free from spot or blemish.

There is nothing but Spirit!  Our whole Mind, Being and World are Spirit.  Supply, income and abundance are Spirit.  Happiness, companionship, joy and peace are Spirit.  Through the immaculate conception we see the whole Body to be Spirit, its actions and functions, Spirit, which is ever perfect in insight, awareness, power and glory.

Dear Friends,

“Dropping Anchor In God’s Presence.”

If you were out on the open sea in a small boat, and suddenly experienced a storm, would you drop anchor right there?  In the middle of the storm?  Well, in the middle of the “storms” in our lives, this is what we could be doing…..dropping anchor in God’s Presence.
In Psalm 46, we read in verse 1: “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
And in the well-known, and much quoted section of verse 10: Be still, and know that I am God:”

Yet when the chips are down our first resort is to worry like crazy and stress ourselves to the limit because for some reason it seems we think that only we can fix or resolve the situation (storm) or whatever it may be that we are facing.  For some reason we feel compelled to act; and sadly, most of our “acting” or “taking action” is to worry.

Jean Pierre de Caussade stated:  “The past must be left to God’s measureless mercy, the future to his loving providence; and the present must be given wholly to his love through our fidelity to his grace.  Let us understand that we shall not acquire true conformity to the will of God until we are perfectly resolved to serve him according to his will and pleasure, and not according to our own.”

The focus for this message is the idea of anchoring ourselves in God’s Presence – no matter what our situation. You see, we all carry anchors, and these anchors are our beliefs.  After all we all believe in something! And maybe we are actually anchoring ourselves in what it is we do not want!  And we need to take note here.  Let us just for a moment consider two scripture quotes: the first being found in Proverbs 23:7…”As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” The second we find in Matthew 8:13,  “As thou has believed, so be it done unto thee,” and this was Jesus’ remark to the Roman centurion.

Epictetus, a long ago Greek philosopher said: “Men are disturbed not by things that happen, but by their opinion of the things that happen.” Our self-talk – our story – is made up of thoughts, attitudes, beliefs, experiences, feelings and perceptions, about 90% of which are unconscious at any given time. And to a large degree, we are anchored in this self-talk which in its own way becomes what we believe about ourselves and life as a whole. So when dropping anchor in the storms of life it is well to first check the quality of the anchor. We need to check for ourselves if the stories we are telling ourselves are self-talk or Truth. Once we have established ourselves in truth, we drop anchor in the Presence of the One Power.

We have beautiful stories and examples in scripture yet so often get swayed by the things of the world, and we drop anchor in the economic reports, weather reports,  political reports, all the health reports and unemployment and seeming lack.  Are we then in a position of worshiping God, and……? Turn to God—the One and only Omnipresent Presence. Have we, for all our sophisticated and advanced technology, made any advancement  in our relationship to God; to Life?

We do need relationships with family, with friends; we do need employment. Yet it is in God that our needs are met, because in God there is no lack or limitation. As we realize our unity with the One, we drop anchor, and in this awareness, we become still and the storm passes.

In Closing……

Faith is inherent in the invisible Spirit, and is Spirit, it is the source of what it proves; the source of all beautiful evidences that constitute nature.  We walk, talk, think, and live by Faith.  Faith is the active principle of Being.  By faith we see, therefore it is sight; by it we hear, therefore it is hearing; by it we know Truth, therefore it is knowledge.

All things in creation are not only evidence of its Omnipotence, but of its never failing certainty and unlimited good.  All the accomplishments of man and all things accomplished by him, are the result and evidence of faith. Then “Faith is the substance of things hoped for.”

Faith is the ability to live and succeed in every position in life.  To accomplish the purpose which every right endeavor has in view and to better one’s conditions as the field of work requires.  It is essential that we put faith in our spiritual endeavors, in our mental endeavors, and in our physical endeavors to enjoy satisfactory evidence of the substance of our Being, and have positive proof of the reality of the things hoped for.

Dear Friends,

“The Solution Lies in Practice, not Theory”

Scripture inspires in us an appreciation of the beauty and wisdom of nature. Job encourages us to “ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee, or speak to the earth, and it shall teach thee” (12:7, 8). Job reminds us that the earth was made by God, “in whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind” (12:10).

Now, although I have shared these quotes from Job, the message is not necessarily about Job, yet we can learn from his experiences.  Most of you know the defining quote found in Job:  WHAT I FEARED MOST HAS COME UPON ME. And yet we have the realization too of how “tuned in” to God he was, which proved ultimately to be his “saving grace.”

Recently while I was sorting papers and doing some filing at home, I came across an article by  Dr Stewart Bitkoff entitled: “How to be spiritual amidst this chaos?”  And I believe it was somewhere in 2015 that I printed the article…..yet how applicable in our world today.  Sometimes we need guidance on maintaining our spiritual focus; we need to be reminded that each of us is that embodiment called Truth.  And, of course Truth is part of all belief systems, traditions; in fact is the fulcrum common to all creation!

So in considering how to be spiritual amidst the chaos  we find the solution lies in practice and not in theory. Job is a good example as he went through all sorts of trials and tribulations, yet his saving grace was keeping his focus on God; knowing God/Truth to be the solution.

Let us not forget that God, this Inner Presence, is doing exactly what IT is supposed to be doing, even as our bodies age and die.  We are in charge when we mindfully make a decision, through awareness, to notice all the gifts of Life around us.  Yet even when we seem unaware, the process of Life continues at the deepest level of our being.

Awareness is our greatest gift.  It is only when we are aware that we can lift ourselves out of the quagmire of fear thinking and believing.  Job, who even whilst going through what seems to us today, the most dramatic experiences, remained centered in Truth; aligned or focused as he acknowledged God and that the earth was made by God…. “in whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all.”

And despite what befell Job; despite him acknowledging that what he feared most had come upon him; he maintained his focus on Truth – coming back continuously to first cause, God.  God at the center of all Life.  As stated by Paul: “in Him we live move and have our being.”

Even in the so-called chaos that has been experienced over many, many years; the chaos that also seems prevalent in life today, we need to be mindful and have reverence for ALL LIFE – and the Great Mystery which lives us.

Through our times of contemplation; our times of meditation, we are aligned with the Mystery of Life and we experience IT!  And without trying, we recognize it in all aspects of creation. And from (or through) our awareness comes our experience…..and we realize the solution lies in Practice, not in theory.  Our living of life is not a theory, but a practical experience.  And the experience is first in mind and then in manifestation.

By living life in a balanced way with God/Truth as the fulcrum of our focus we allow ourselves to be guided to the solution.  And we know the solution or solutions in life are not always according to how we would have them be; yet all through life – all through creation – is the underlying intelligence, calling us to BE STILL…..AND KNOW.

In Closing……
There is no such thing as God and.  It is for that reason that the only demonstration there is for us to make is the demonstration of God’s presence.  In demonstrating God’s presence, we demonstrate life eternal, and infinity of supply, brotherhood, peace, joy, protection, and safety.  In His presence there is fullness of life—nothing is absent.  When we have God’s presence, we have God appearing as good, as clothing, as housing. But there is one requirement: to have His presence—not meaningless affirmations or the mouthings of the deep truths of Scripture, but His presence.

Where God is, fulfillment is, and through the realization of Omnipresence, all things already exist.  God is forever functioning to maintain and sustain the infinite and eternal nature of this universe appearing as.  God appears as the daily manna: I am the bread of life—not I will have or should have or will demonstrate it, but I am it; and this I appears on our table as daily bread.  It appears outwardly as transportation or clothing.  In the beginning before time began, God gave Himself to us, and in the giving, infinity was bestowed  upon us.  Joel Goldsmith—The Thunder of Silence

Dear Friends,

“Are We Sowing To Spirit Or To Flesh?”

What is the sowing and the reaping that is causing the distresses of the people on earth?  Paul summed it up in these words: “If you sow to the Spirit, you will reap life everlasting; if you sow to the flesh, you will reap corruption.” These words make sense  when we re-visit the Law of Expression and see for ourselves how spiritual law is always working.

In the world today there is much condemnation and we see it in the form of many governments, companies, and individuals, being accused of various  misdemeanors.  When we sit in judgement regarding situations involving others, it conveniently takes the spotlight off ourselves.  Do we at times fall into the trap of elevating ourselves to the position of righteousness?  What level of life are we identifying with when we make accusations or judgements?

Jesus said: “Call no man on earth your father,” and indicated clearly that we all originate from the same Divine Source whatever name we know IT by. It is within our own consciousness, at the core of our being, that understanding of our spiritual identity begins.  This is the “God-Centre” of all being, and through this recognition of the divine in all, a need or desire to accuse or judge, falls away. According to Emma Curtis Hopkins: “Effectiveness comes with letting the goodness of the merciful and tender spirit speak instead of your condemning tendencies, wherever anything appears to be evil.”

Truth understood can never be diminished; and the understander of truth can never backtrack.  There is a line in the movie, “Luther,” about the life of Martin Luther that made such an impact on me, and still does. He was suspended from the church and asked to recant his ideas that of course were threatening  the power of the church. In order to be reinstated in the church he was required to recant his ideas.  His response: “I cannot recant truth!” Joan of Arc is another very good example, who, when recognizing the inner divine splendor, exclaimed: “I cannot retract—I am that.”

A statement I read some years ago indicated: “You can have your highest good now.”  Well if we remove the word can, it reads: “you have your highest good now!” There is no effort to be what we are already, in truth.  We do have our highest good now and it abides at the centre of our being.  It is pure love not needing anything in return.  It is from this place of being centred in truth that need for judgement falls away.

Not one individual has been created greater than another. Each has his or her gift to share and something to learn and accomplish in life.  Paul told Timothy to, “churn up that gift that was in him.” Let us be mindful of the greatness of Spirit operating in and through every individual, showing forth IT’S radiance, using each as a vehicle for expression. We come back now to Jesus’ instruction: “call no man on earth your father.”  Is it not time that we realize that all share in the same Spiritual Heritage—is it not time to stop hiding behind the world issues, and allow that which is true to take precedence in our lives?

Whenever we find ourselves accusing or condemning let us know that we are giving a disturbing condition all our attention.  We are sowing then to the flesh, when there is another way.Let us sow to Spirit as we take time in the Silence; let us remember and  bring to mind the words: BE STILL AND KNOW, THAT I AM GOD.

In Closing……

Consider the simple tree.  It operates as a unit. Not a single leaf, twig or branch can live or act independent of the tree as a whole; and the life and substance of the tree is its fulness and wholeness throughout.  There is nothing that a leaf can be of itself; to be at all it must be the tree.  The tree as a whole is in every leaf.

Existence is thought a problem only when one sees or considers his life as separate from the Whole, with mind, thought and will of his own, living in a human state.  From this viewpoint problems can never be solved.  The heart  only can know spiritual things.  The heart asks its questions of God, and receives its answers from God direct.  When one is willing to give his heart in full abandonment to Spirit as his only Life, Being and World, he is then the Way unto himself.

Dear Friends,

“A Greater Understanding Of Life”

Understanding is necessary and critical in life.

  • We cannot have wisdom without understanding.
  • We cannot have love without understanding.
  • We cannot have knowledge without understanding.
  • We cannot have faith without understanding.

The main intention in this message is to focus on the greatest aspect of life which really requires our understanding—and that is understanding who we are in Truth.  The issues and challenges in life are not about us or whatever it is we happen to be facing at any time; it is about trusting.  However we can only trust once we understand our true origin. Understanding is a skill which we develop through awareness.  The reason this needs to be developed is that we may forget that our seeming “fixed identity” is only temporary; yet our true identities are those  which are eternally real.

The practice of awareness is vital to a deeper understanding…the understanding within that says: “I know…!” This is uttered clearly in the Aquarian Gospel, chap 32:13 where we are told:  “Man may  believe what others say; but this he never knows. If a man would know he must himself be what he knows.”

According to Deepak Chopra in his book, The Book of Secrets, he states that understanding changes the whole picture of reality, and that whenever we perform an action we are actually expressing a level of understanding.  He also states that everything that you have decided about yourself is in play at this very moment. What have we decided about ourselves?  And is it linked to a “fixed identity”  that is not “fixed” at all?  Any opinions,
criticisms, judgments, are showing us that we do not understand.

The basis of our teaching is the Omnipresence of God; we are continuations out of (and one with) this One Source of all Life. We speak about this, read about it, yet until we really “get it,” we need the constant reminder.  The universe is a spiritual creation and we are not here to perfect the human but to understand, know, and prove, our spiritual heritage.

One of the goals in teaching classes is not only to bring about a deeper understanding of the true nature of our being, but to offer practical tools to assist us to live this way as well.  It was mentioned that we cannot have wisdom, love, knowledge, or faith without understanding. When we understand who we are in Truth, then during our practice of awareness, we allow inner Wisdom to come forth; we become transparencies for God’s Love; our knowledge is a true knowing; and our faith is real because we surrender in trust.

When we are challenged, as all are from time to time, by whatever appears before us, and maybe fear pops up…all we need do is ask ourselves: “what is it I do not understand?” We are all spiritual beings, heirs to the heavenly kingdom; it is our lack of understanding that postpones this in our experience.  Know the truth and the truth shall set you free.

We live in a world focused on acquisition; on getting and wanting and having.  Yet  we read in Proverbs: “..and with all thy getting, get understanding.”  This is our work; our practice and ultimately also our freedom!

In closing….

“Old age does not mean the burden of years; it means the fruition of a life. Years are our friends, not our enemies, if we live in harmony with these, and think of them as opportunities for development.

Each day of the year is in itself an opportunity to realize more of truth; but unwisely we resist the passing of the years instead of cooperating  in spirit with the seeming flight of time.   It is human ignorance in relation to process that makes us old, not the experiences of time in its passing. It is our attitude toward time that keeps us free from the limitations that the race would burden us with.”   Nona Lovell Brooks Mysteries (1924)
