Dear Friends,

“Our God-given Dominion.”

In Genesis 1:26, we read: And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Let us investigate this further as I refer to the following, taken from the book, Thunder of Silence, by Joel Goldsmith: “The first chapter of Genesis is the account of a spiritual universe, peopled by spiritual beings who do not live by effect but by cause, who do not live by bread alone, who do not have to earn their living by the sweat of their brow; whereas in the second and third chapters a knowledge of good and evil creates a sense of separation from God after which man lives by power and by effect: He lives by bread, by money, by the beating of the heart, by sunlight; he lives by all the creature things, instead of by the Creator.”

God gave us dominion – have we given it away? And we may even question and ask what has possibly happened to that dominion that seems to have been usurped by our allowing “other things” to dominate our lives.  What happens to that God-given dominion when we allow others in whatever aspect to dictate to us how we should be, believe, or live our lives?

Society dictates to the world as to how we should look, how we should dress, and what we should or should not eat, depending on the current fad.  Have we given away our dominion by simply forgetting who we are in Truth?  By doing so, by forgetting, we have chosen the kind of world that we currently inhabit.  That may be a tough statement yet, true.

Life is not lived by might nor by power nor by taking thought, but by divine grace – the grace that flows and is experienced when we stop and listen.  Then … we open out a way for that imprisoned splendor to escape.

Perhaps we need to return, with a deeper perception to the beginning of the story – back to Genesis.  And interestingly, Goldsmith, in the book I referred to earlier states the following:  “The world can never rise above the idea of using one power over another and into the realm of no power, until the mystery of Genesis is solved.”  Until we reach the stage of realization (in consciousness) of who we are in truth, we are always going to come under the spell of the world. Of course we can always fall back on, or remember, that no matter how much we forget; who we are in Truth, can never change!!

In order to dwell in the kingdom, we must be willing to give up human thoughts of duality.  And we need to remind ourselves that thinking or taking thought, cannot “add to us one cubit,” as the passage in Luke 12:22-32 tells us. This passage should be read over and over and over because it reiterates the message found in Genesis!

It all comes back to consciousness.  Daily we are being challenged by the goings on in life around us.  We are being challenged to give up duality thinking. It is a tough ask, due to our being subjected to some of the most awful things going on, all around the globe.

Throughout the Bible, which is a wonderful guide for living life, we are offered examples of how to live mindfully in the Presence; the Presence that is with us, living us.  And we mindfully connect with It in the Silence.  Each breath is IT!

In Closing…….
The mystical philosophers of the past not only realized that some day humanity would shift its ethical structure from a physical to a spiritual footing, but also that each individual living in the collective plan would be required to adjust his code and his character to the new culture-level.
As this critical hour approaches, it is important that man be supported by a measure of understanding.  When we desire to visit a far country, we prepare ourselves for the adventure. We discuss the trip with other travelers, and read the accounts of the regions through which we shall pass.
Never for a moment, however, do we regard this knowledge accumulated from the words and experiences of others as a substitute for our proposed journey.  No amount of study can equal the direct impact of personal experience.
