Dear Friends,
“Why Are We Taking Thought?”
As we move forward in this year, 2025, let us decide to do so mindfully. When we consider the word mindful, it carries a deeper message and meaning than we often give it. Mindfulness, means BEING, FROM AN INNER KNOWING; it means, in a sense, LETTING WHAT IS, BE. Can we do this? Can we trust Life enough to do this?
Today, we discuss the lesson Jesus gave on taking no thought. We find this in Luke 12: 22-32 and I cannot emphasize enough just what a valuable and practical lesson this is. From personal experience it has played a big part in my life. If we look at the world around us right now, does it not prove to us all, just what taking thought has actually brought about?? We are now living in a time of transformation – I believe deep down we all know this – and after all is it not also a time of opportunity – a time when we put to rest, or lay aside that which has not, and is not, working?
Let us briefly remind ourselves of this important passage found in scripture that is such a wonderful directive on how to live our lives. We need this guidance, I believe, perhaps now, more than at any other time, as a species on this planet.
22 And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on. 23 The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment. We are being reminded that we are more than the shell, the body, the vehicle – we are spiritual beings.
24 Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls? 25 And which of you with taking thought can add to his stature one cubit? What is being indicated here is that, as an idea come forth from God, an expression of the Source of All Life, we are already whole and complete. Our thought diminishes that. And the reason for this is that it is our human thought that thinks apart from the spiritual knowing. It is the thinking of the world that says: take this or that to prevent aging and so on. It is human thought that feeds us erroneously with the idea that “my religion” is right, or “they” are strange, or different or wrong. All this human thought, which then unfortunately also becomes human belief.
26 If ye then be not able to do that thing which is least, why take ye thought for the rest? 27 Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. That same Source of All Creation, resides in all of nature – this is the Omnipresence we speak of, this is the God Presence in all of IT’S creation
28 If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith? Well, we just have to look around at our world today to realize that we of little faith….. are creating our experiences.
29 And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.
30 For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things. It works IF we stop looking for answers outside of ourselves. IT is within! Always within – right where we are. In today’s world we have an extra “obstacle” to overcome and that is: DISTRACTION. We take thought for all the things happening around us!
31 But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.
This directive is straight to the point! We need to stop vacillating …. Moving from faith to fear, and back again …. And trust!
I recently watched a very interesting documentary on You Tube, with a Neurosurgeon telling the story of his journey through the afterlife, during his time in a coma, from which he was not expected to recover or live. In brief, what he indicated, was that he was shown that we are all One in consciousness, and that we carry within our souls all the attributes of the Divine Source, as he stated it. He emphasized the Oneness of All; he also spoke about the importance of consciousness and stated that the human brain and mind won’t understand spiritual truths, and that the Divine Spirit is within us. Well, he could have been quoting from our Divine Science Teaching!!
32 Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom. And of course, this promise is stated in the present tense!! God is now – IT, Life is now… the promises made, are now! This is the kingdom, already given to all. Let us “take no thought,” and turn to that Presence that is with us always, that when realized, makes all the difference to the way we live.
Bountiful blessings,
Mallory
