“Are We Valuing the Experience of Each Day?”
The message this month, is based on the above question. Someone called in to a radio programme the other day and stated how glad they were that it was finally the weekend. Are we trying to rush to a “finish line” in life? It would seem so when we take note of how much we pack into one day. It seems that we forget who we are in Truth; as we try to achieve, yet still remain unfulfilled.
Francois du Toit, in his book, God Believes in You, states: “Nothing makes you more vulnerable than to be driven by a sense of need or lack. Nothing makes you more beautiful than a sense of total fulfilment. The awareness of who we really are, and considering the greatness that dwells in us is out of all proportion to the lie of lack and need.”
I find this ties in so well with the message from Nona Brooks, see below.
You see we are working with law. In Divine Science, we call it the Law of Expression; like begets like; first in mind and then in manifestation. We have all come forth as expressions from the One Source of All Creation. Nona Brooks states that Success has brought us forth; and du Toit speaks of the greatness indwelling us.
Until we really know and believe in our true heritage, we are going to be experiencing the result of our un-knowing or un-belief. It is law—spiritual law that supersedes any human laws. To illustrate the Law of Expression: We turn to God with a need; we focus on our need; we bring forth that on which we focus…more need.
Another example: We turn to God, to know God; we become still in the Presence; and we experience the peace, and understanding which is then inevitable.
The method of success given by Nona Brooks, is: “seek first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness: and all these things shall be added unto you.” Most important to realize here is that if we are seeking the kingdom of God for the added things, then we are indicating clearly that we do not have, and according to the law, this will be our experience. Look at the world around us: it is the way it is because of the way we have been in it.
Over, and over again, in our current Old Testament classes, which we are investigating at the metaphysical and mystical levels, we are coming across the Law of Expression. We have been working with the story of Moses, and where previously, it was concluded that Moses himself, never reached the promised land. Well, when we discover through metaphysical interpretation, that the promised land is not a geographical place, but a state of consciousness, it changes the outcome of the story.
These stories are our stories too. Seek first the kingdom, not a place to be reached physically; rather an understanding in consciousness. Whatever your experience each day, check your faith. Is it based on the Infinite Truth, or on illusions—the appearance, according to the world.?
In Closing…………
“We are born to success; that which is Success brought us forth. We are included in the universal Spirit and its great power surges through us. What is the method of success? “Seek ye first the kingdom for God, and his righteousness: and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Some interpret this to mean, “Serene, I fold my hands and wait.” Not so. God has given us everything in the universe, but we have to accept our good and use it. We cannot sit still and accomplish. The kingdom of God means alertness, energy, the very highest activity possible. The kingdom of God includes law and order, system and accuracy. So the moment we realize we are in this kingdom we begin to be active, systematic and powerful.
The task that seems hard at a certain time is exactly what we need for the development of character. This leads to the greatest happiness. The sense of having accomplished always brings happiness. Have faith in the experience of the day. Do not resist. Put your best into your work and get the best from it. Be reliable in your work whether you like it or not. Work as if each task were your chosen work. The Spirit knows what you can do and should do. Trust the Spirit and be willing to do whatever work it gives you.”
