Dear Friends,
“One With God”
I came across this quote from Rumi: “The drop loses its limitations when it falls into the boundless ocean.” How true! And on contemplating these words, do they not actually, beautifully, describe omnipresence? Each “drop” that we are, is always part of the Holy Whole—and it can be no other way. The realization of this truth calls for our experience of it.
In moments of awareness, it comes to mind that what all of humanity really desires, we already have. This of course would be contested at the level of the world; materialistically, there are many differences. To understand the deeper message though, we need to realize that we have a choice; to continue as “drops,” wary of the Oneness of Being; wary perhaps of becoming invisible, unheard, unloved, and more. Or we can begin to understand that in God we are One.
A few weeks ago, it was put forward that the New Testament teachings of Jesus should be changed to the Now Testament. The main reason being that what was taught to all who would hear, so many years ago, has not changed and still applies today. It seems that today we have more and more distractions that seemingly tempt us away from the simple truths that have been from the beginning of creation, and in fact still apply today. We are now, I believe, at that point where we do need to prove them for ourselves. I was listening to the beautiful song by India Arie, entitled: “I am Light,” and caught the words: I AM DIVINITY DEFINED. Well, this is true for each and every soul on the planet.
The teachings of Jesus are not “old hat,” and we might even go so far as to say that they are more applicable now than ever before. Let us investigate these directives given from the consciousness of the man who had discovered not only the divine potential within him, but within all.
Charles Fillmore (co-founder of Unity) stated: “He became consciously one with the absolute principle of being. He proved in his resurrection and ascension that he had no consciousness separate from that of being, therefore he was this being to all intent and purpose. Yet attained no more than what is expected of every one of us.”
A question that has arisen from time to time relates to the words found in John 3:16 “only begotten son.” Well Meister Eckhart transposes this phrase to: “THAT WHICH IS BEGOTTEN ONLY OF GOD,” clarifying so well a different meaning.
Life is not to be lived according to how we think it should be; rather according to how it is in Truth. And when each realizes that the Truth of individual being, does not change; it throws a different light on Life. Joel Goldsmith states it so clearly: “Spiritual power is the realization that God alone, good alone, spirit alone, is power; and that anything that appears in the form of human experience isn’t power at all.”
These words from Rumi truly stirred me: The drop loses its limitations when it falls into the boundless ocean. You and I are drops within the vast ocean of Life. And the vast ocean of Life is that Consciousness that ultimately recognizes the Holy Oneness of all Creation.
In Closing…….
While Jesus clearly saw the truth of his oneness, mankind has not yet awakened to the truth of this inherent Christhood. Mankind can be found at all stages of unfoldment.
This process of man’s coming to know, be it slow or rapid, now, or in the coming ages, is the gradual attainment of the Christ Consciousness.
It is the recognition, acceptance, acceptance, and the expression of the universal principle of the Christ within each soul. It is the merging of the human will with the divine law of the Universal Christ.
Christ is the divinity, “the light that lighteth every man,” and, being universal, and formed in all, makes everyone a son. This does not lessen the divinity of Jesus but reveals the divinity of all mankind.
